What is RSS?
One of the main advantages of a blog is that you can receive updates whenever something new is added.
In order to do this you need a rss feed (Really Simple Syndication). The rss feed for the communICTy blog is http://www.learnblog.net/ict/feed/ .How do I find a rss feed?
Most websites with a rss feed will have a rss icon somewhere on the page (see below).
When you click on the icon or the link you will view the the html script for the page.
Ignore the gobbledeegook and just copy the address in the address bar of the page.
Finally paste it into a new entry of your RSS reader.

What is a RSS reader?
You need a reader to search the blogs, podcasts or any rss webpages you subscribe to and look for any updates.

If a new entry has been published, your reader will notify you. This saves you having to keep checking all of the sites to see if they have anything new on them.

Which RSS Reader should I use?
The most commonly used RSS Reader is http://www.bloglines.com/ . However, you have to make the effort of going to check what updates you have received.
If you only want to rss a few sites, an easier solution is to use rssfwd.com which sends email alerts to you. All you have to do is the following:
copy the rss feed url for a site.
Go to http://www.rssfwd.com/
paste in the address and click on submit.
Type in your email address.
You will then receive an alert when something new is added to that site.
